FILM: In 2009's Paranormal Activity, a young couple puts a video camera in their home to discover what's making strange noises in the night. And boy, don't they wish it was just an ordinary, ho-hum rodent infestation. The horror film screens as part of The Independent's Monday night film series.

THEATER: Jeff Raz of Cirque du Soleil hosts tonight's Clown Cabaret with students from American Conservatory Theater, the physical comedy group Pi and others. And since it is now officially the month of Valentine's Day, tonight's theatrical comedy will be all about love.

BOOKS: To discuss his latest novel The Wild Things, dude writer Dave Eggers will speak with Jon Carroll at Berkeley Repertory Theatre. The event is a benefit for the financial aid programs at Park Day School in Oakland.
