Proving smarter and more forward-thinking than the state of California, Mexico City legalized same-sex marriage today. AP reports that it's the first city in Latin America to legalize same-sex marriage, "a change that will give homosexual couples more rights, including allowing them to adopt children."
The gay marriage bill passed the capital's local assembly with a vote of 39-20. Mayor Marcelo Ebrard of the "Democratic Revolution Party" will most likely to sign the measure into law. Congratulations, Mexico!
