In lieu of shutting down the entire span of the Bay Bridge, the California Department of Transportation decided to close lanes to repair the crippled eyebar.
"Work will begin Friday night, weather permitting, and continue every night during the overnight hours for about three weeks," Caltrans spokesman Bart Ney tells Appeal/BCN.
On Oct. 27, if you recall, winds caused the eyebar repair to fail, sending two tie rods and a crossbar onto traffic on the upper deck of the Bay Bridge. Much to the chagrin of commuters (and delight of eastern SOMA residents), the bridge was closed for six days for repairs.
