Too many choices are always better than not enough, and this week won't disappoint, concert-wise. Bay Area favorites Religious Girls and The Fresh & Only's play the Elbo Room tonight, supergroup-to-end-all-supergroups Them Crooked Vultures are at the Fox Theater Thursday and San Francisco transplants Thao With The Get Down Stay Down hit The Independent on Saturday, just to name a few.
Bad news for the non-proactive -- Sunday's Friendly Fires/The xx show and the two homecoming Girls appearances this week are both completely sold out. You still have a chance, however, to snag tickets to Neon Indian's (pictured above) highly anticipated SF debut this Thursday at the Rickshaw Stop. Hype aside, the chillwave-bros nostalgic sample and synth heavy debut Psychic Chasms will have a well deserved spot on endless best of the year list come December. It is a downright enjoyable album, and rumor has it that the bedroom production -- backed with a four-piece live band -- translates well to the stage.
On a more solemn note, DFA's Juan MacLean will be holding a benefit at Mezzanine Friday in honor of the late drummer Gerhardt Fuchs (!!!, The Juan Maclean, Holy Ghost!). All proceeds from the event will be donated to Fuch's family.
