Something called "Take Back Halloween: Part One" will go down at the Embarcadero this year. Brought to you by the same folks behind FlashDance and Black Rock Roller Disco, the All Hallow's Eve party is, we assume, a non-city-sanctioned event, thus it should promise to be a fun one. (Though, this could be a clever ruse by the city to get people to a locale other than the Castro. Hm. Crafty.)
The spooktacular revelry, which is supposed to replace Halloween in the Castro, happens on Halloween night in front of the Ferry Building at the Embarcadero, starting at 9 p.m.
You are instructed to do the following: if you have a costume, wear it; if you have an outdoor music set up (i.e., DJ, or "a music bike," band, boombox, etc.), bring your aural skills as well; clean up after yourselves; and "if you see anyone being a jerk, interrupt them by smiling at them and thank them for coming to Halloween."
Sounds fun. Ish. Oh, and be sure to bring candy treats to give out. Everyone loves fun-size candy.
