Lackluster, middling dancehall performer Buju Banto, crooner of such complex songs as "Kill Gays" (AKA "Boom Bye Bye") has plans to play at the Richmond district's Rockit Room tonight. Oh, and he hates homosexuals and thinks that they should be murdered -- much like a lot of people do, even right here in the Bay Area. Anyway, he might or might not perform his notoriously assy tunes tonight, according to SFAppeal.
There was supposed to be some sort of sit-down meeting (groan) between supes Bevan Dufty, Eric Mar, and the Rockit Room management. But? It never happened. Alas.
In the end, though, reggae is scientifically proven to be harmful to the ear; you're better off getting tanked at Martuni's while listening to people butcher Sondheim at the piano.
Update: Dufty, Mar, and other members of the community met with Banto before he performed tonight. Dufty described the encounter as "a very emotional meeting." Check out Appeal for more. (Well done, Bevan. And: thank you.)
