Doing something pretty much all of our friends whose hippie parents did to them back in the day, a Marin couple was arrested for allowing a 13-year-old boy to drive them home in order to avoid another DUI.

The couple, Heather Choulos and boyfriend Donald Hughes, got smashed somewhere in downtown San Anselmo. Then, according to AP, "officers investigating a vehicle stalled in a major thoroughfare discovered the underaged driver." (It was a stickshift? Ugh. Letting a 13-year-old drive an automatic is one thing. But a stick? Well, that's is downright stupid.) Police went on to say "the boy claimed he stopped because he was 'freaked out' and refused to drive further."

Choulos, 32, a Mill Valley resident "was charged Monday with child endangerment and contributing to the delinquency of a minor—both misdemeanors."

Hughes was not charged.
