Breaking news, folks. "North Korean media say leader Kim Jong Il has pardoned two American journalists and ordered their release during the visit of former U.S. President Bill Clinton," reports the Associated Press.
The two Current journos -- Euna Lee and Laura Ling, who were arrested for crossing the border into North Korea, then subsequently handed a 12-year sentence of hard labor -- were pardoned for their, er, crimes after former U.S. President Bill Clinton smoothed things over via today's early morning visit and Jong Il meet-and-greet.
It goes without saying, but this is fantastic news. We're sure Ling's and Lee's families and loved ones, not to mention their colleagues at SF-based Current, are overjoyed.
