Due to installing the "most solar systems per 1,000 citizens by any city in the Bay Area," the city of Berkeley has won a coveted the "City Solar Award" sponsored by NorCal Solar. Berkeley trampled Oakland (1.2 systems per 1,000 people), San Francisco (0.84), and San Jose (0.73). In addition to bragging rights, Berkley has also won the ire of PG&E.
