SUNDAY: On August 3, the San Francisco Marathon gallops out of The Embarcadero and Mission at 5:30 a.m. (Load up on those carbs, runners.) The marathon route will wiggle along The Embarcadero, through the Marina to the Golden Gate Bridge, south on Lincoln Boulevard, hitting Golden Gate Park, and returning just behind the ballpark. Whew.
Which means? Parking and driving in SF will be a nightmare that day, but you can find (sort of) helpful info on closures and reroutes here. And, boy, is it extensive. We recommend checking it out, Sunday drivers. Seriously.
Muni will also be a mess. Surprise. The F Market, K Ingleside, T Third, L Taraval, M Ocean View, and N Judah, 1 California, 2 Clement, 5 Fulton, 6 Parnassus, 9 San Bruno, 10 Townsend, 12 Folsom/Pacific,14 Mission, 18 46th Avenue, 19 Polk, 22 Fillmore, 24 Divisadero, 26 Valencia, 27 Bryant, 28 19th Avenue, 31 Balboa, 33 Stanyan, 37 Corbett, 38 Geary, 43 Masonic, 44 O'Shaughnessy, 48 Quintara, 49 Van Ness, 53 Southern Heights, and 71 Haight/Noriega will all come to work hungover that day. Check out NextBus for arrival times before you take a ride. Enjoy.
SATURDAY, SUNDAY: The 14th annual Aloha Festival will serve up island magic over on the main parade ground in the Presidio. The two-day event - an annual arts festival featuring Pacific Islander music, Polynesian dance, food, crafts, leis, family fun, and more - will close down Graham, Sheridan, and Lincoln from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days. The 29 Sunset will go nuts as well.
