FILM: Silent Film Festival kicks off with The Kid Brother (1927). What's it about? Well, it's "Harold Lloyd's next-to-last silent comedy has it all: action, romance, and drama, on top of non-stop laughs. The sheriff of Hickoryville is father to three sons, two big brawny boys and timid half-pint Harold, who dreams of heroism while housekeeping with hilarious ingenuity. But when the town accuses them of theft, Harold must use his wits and fists to save his family. Lloyd considered this to be his best film, and it's hailed as his masterpiece." And the esteemed Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra will play live during the screening.

MUSIC: Go see the King Khan & the Shrines with the Jacuzzi Boys opening. Who are they? Not a clue. Music has become too complicated for us to listen to with any hypnotic glee or cathartic journeys. But Jennifer Maerz seems to think they're swell, so... so we recommend them. Maerz can tell you more here.

9 p.m. // Great American Music Hall (859 O'Farrell) // $13
