When planning your activities for the next two weeks, make sure you save plenty of time for the ninth annual APAture festival!
What's APAture, you ask? It's the Kearny Street Workshop's arts festival highlighting visual art, music, and performances from local Asian-American artists! There's something for everyone: dance, music, comedy, and zines, just to name a few. You could get playwriting tips from acclaimed dramaturge Philip Kan Gotanda, or check out local indie artist Goh Nakamura. Or maybe you'll want to stop by the panel discussion on "fetish friendships," or a film about Japanese women's views on abortion -- there's no shortage of provocative performances and discussions to be had. You can check out the full program here -- wow!
Everything starts tomorrow and runs through next Saturday. And keep your eyes peeled in this space -- KSW's kindly offered SFist some tickets to pass along to our readers, so we'll be doing those as the weeks progress. Thanks, KSW! We're really psyched to check out this year's events!
