Friend of SFist, Julie, sent us an e-mail this morning about yet another assault, this time in the Marina. Believe it or not, the cops weren't that much of a help in this case either and Julie says that not only did the cops not make an arrest but that it seems likely they didn't take suspect names in their police report. So since they weren't of much help, she turns to us to see if we could help her out.

Below is her story:

"Late in the evening of Friday, January 12, my friend was hit in the face at the Comet Club (Fillmore/Filbert) in San Francisco. The incident was random and unprovoked -- there was no fight, and therefore it escaped the notice of the bouncers and bartenders-- but it resulted in my friend having four facial fractures and requiring a three-hour surgery to repair the damage. He will be in recovery for over two weeks, and the damage to his face is permanent.

I am seeking information from anyone who was at the Comet Club that night. The assault took place toward the front of the bar, as my friend was closing his tab, between 1:30 and 2:00am (technically Saturday the 13th). The man who did this was in his 20s and has a Boston accent. He was with one friend, who was short and also had a Boston accent-- one was wearing a white collared shirt, one was wearing a black collared shirt. Both tried to run away from the scene.
