Six youth made the arduous journey, Rizzo and Frenchie (Females) and Napoleon, Rico, James and Mr. X (they haven’t named one yet, we suggest SFguin, but the zoo hasn’t adopted it… yet.). Emerging from a dog kennel on to a dewy lawn, the penguins posed like pros for a few minutes before beginning their march. A few of the penguins then proceeded with a full out sprint that had zookeepers, press folk, and the few children that were there, racing to keep up. Some of the other penguins took a more staid pace, more commensurate with the importance of the occasion, and with the excitement of the onlookers. Once they arrived at their new enclosure, (where admittedly, they had to be encouraged to get in the water), the penguins seemed to be thrilled with its size and entertained the crowd swimming around it in a pack. SFist was impressed by how the keepers seemed extremely attached to the penguins and by how attractive the lil guys were in person. We’ve refrained from using the words cute and adorable in this post until now, but we think you’ll agree, they really are just sooo cute. We’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.
