A couple literary events have made their way into our inbox lately, and we want to tell you about them. It's just that simple. Sometimes we like to watch people reading, it's like TV, except in our brains!

Ah, City Lights, no matter how often your authentically decrepit structure causes our allergies to send us into instantaneous shock, we keep on coming back for more. Thursday night, for example, there's local author Craig Clevenger, of fame, and Will Christopher Baer, author of Phineas Poe, who will be reading there at 7:00 p.m. Baer will be celebrating the release of Phineas Poe, a noir omnibus, while Clevenger will be reading from Dermaphoria, about which the Chron said "it is reminiscent of William Gibson's work, but Clevenger has his own attitude and a film-noirish literary style that is unique." Bring your Benadryl, and get ready for a darkly good time.

If you're looking for something a little lighter, how about tonight's Festivus Party at the new San Francisco Cody's? Allen Salkin (who used to live here until he left us for the land of Gothamist) will be reading from his book Festivus; The Holiday for the Rest of Us. Allen personally assures us thet there will also be "Free Festivus Wine". It is the holiday for the rest of us! The fun starts tonight at 7:30.
