Neither are opponents of Home Depot. Leading opponent Tom Ammiano said the vote "sucks." And Jake McGoldrick said that Home Depot came "into our community and caused deep and perhaps lasting harm by dangling jobs." Those bastards! He then went onto say: "we want good jobs. We do not want poverty-level jobs." Which is a good point, but if wishes were fishes there’d still be a completely empty fish tank because nobody has done a damn thing about bringing good jobs to the area.
Still, opponents are vowing to keep fighting, which is all par for the course since nobody in this city seems to say upon losing a vote, "good show, we’ll get you next time." Our guess is lawyers. Lots of lawyers. And maybe a proposition or two. Or three. Anyways, Home Depot is hoping to open the store by 2008
