This week's adoptable pet (he'll be featured on SFist all week long on the left side of the site, half-way down) comes to us from Grateful Dogs Rescue. Not to sound like the dude who tried to sell us a used Vespa the other day, but we almost didn't pick Louie for this week's Find a Friend because we want him so badly ourselves. (Yes, we do note the resemblance between Louie and SFist's own Franny. What of it?)

Can you say happy? Louie was rescued from the Lake Charles, Louisiana animal shelter hours before Hurricane Rita struck the area. The shelter was destroyed in the storm. A major contributor and friend of GRATEFUL DOGS RESCUE donated the use of her Gulfstream Jet for this rescue flight, which was named in honor of her own dog, rescued from Mexico, Rosie. Thanks to BIG DOG RESCUE, of Penngrove, CA who rescued the animals on the ground and ROSIE'S WINGS OF MERCY I, who flew them to safety, the lives of 73 animals were saved that day.

Louie is a joyous, sweet natured pup that is engaging and loves people and every dog he meets! Creamy gold color coat, and so soft to pet! Very loving and cute, remember Louie is a pup and will need the basics of housetraining, obedience classes and regular outings to keep him healthy and happy. He does show much of the feisty, doxie attitude and nature and is eager to learn and ready to play!

He has had his first round of vaccinations, is heartworm negative, and will make a wonderful addition to most any household! Playtime and chew-toys required! We guarantee that any outing will take longer than planned as everyone has to stop to pet and enjoy this especially cute fellow!!
