We didn't even know Terry McMillan lived in the Bay Area! Matier and Ross take a break from their relentless dogging of Chris Daly to report on the unraveling of Ms. McMillan's marriage. So you know how Terry McMillan became an inspiration for mature women everywhere in her blockbuster book by relating her true story of getting picked up by, and then marrying, a gorgeous, attentive, and intelligent younger man (who was then subequently played by hott Taye Diggs in the movie)? Well, set your secret decoder rings to "cheap irony": they're now getting a divorce because her husband, Jonathan Plummer, has subsequently come out of the closet.
Plummer claims that McMillan has gone all gay panic about the whole thing, saying that she's been defacing pictures of his friends, leaving a bottle of Tabasco sauce at his business that said, "Fag Juice Burn Baby Burn," and saying other nasty things about homosexuality. McMillan claims that Plummer stole money from her, and married her only to get US citizenship. They're now fighting over the prenup Plummer signed, and McMillan is trying to get an annulment for the six-year marriage, which would put Plummer at risk for deportation back to Jamaica. Ugly.
