About a hundred folks showed up (though only 60 or so RSVPed -- naughty bloggers!) and included folks from Craigslist, Technorati, Six Apart, Wordpress, Feedster, Blogger, and so forth. Mark Tamayo, aka SFist's favoritest weatherdude EVAR, was there; Jan Wahl was not, so we were unable to carry out our plan of challenging her to a pie-eating contest.
According to a KRON statement, the station ultimately wants to "create innovative content both for blog readers and television viewers." Sounds good so far. "We don't have all the answers," the statement goes on, "but we think you do." Oh f**k! So, does this mean the news at 6 is suddenly going to get trackbacks? Eh, nobody's really sure. KRON's got high hopes for the future with this venture, but for now the only concrete steps they're taking is monitoring local blogs a little closer. They're also going to start writing their own blog about our blogs, news that made some members of the assembled crowd grimace uncomfortably.
As luck would have it, the blogosphere has provided some coverage of the event. Check out the KRON-tagged photos on Flickr, or read about it here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here.
