So do you think your a leader with good judgement? Do you have a lot of professional qualifications but feel that you could be using those skills for the betterment of humankind? Well then maybe joining the board of a local non-profit volunteer organization would be just the ticket for you. It's the perfect place for a Type A personality who cares.
The Volunteer Center is hosting over seventy organizations at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and they're all looking to fill positions on their Boards. It's a great opportunity to network within the local volunteer community, evaluate some organizations, and drop off a business card or two (just like with your college applications, if you want to be a hotshot executive, you're going to want something like this on your CV). There will be groups representing the entire panopoly of charitable causes in the following categories:
- Animals/Environment/Wildlife
- Arts/Culture/Humanities
- Children and Youth
- Community/Housing/Economic Development
- Education
- Health and Human Services
- Recreation/Leisure/Sports
- Seniors
- Women/Girls
If you're not some high-powered business person or bored trust funder, you can probably just bring intelligence, passion and a commitment to help and get a strong look. The event starts at five and goes until seven, so go hop in a cab right now!
