Forget Mount St. Helens - there's been an eruption right here in the blogosphere! While checking out 1115.org's debate recap, we kept scrolling to a post on Nelly dissing political MCs (classy like that dumb-ass band-aid, Nel). Buried in the small item was a link to Bol, aka BC dot C, aka Byron Crawford, bringing the blog from the oft neglected St. Louis. Entirely unexpectedly we found that we'd stumbled upon beef between Mr. Crawford and our own, local, music-blogger hero Oliver Wang, aka DJ O-Dub of Pop Life and Soul Sides.
We have to admit, there's nothing as interesting as controversy - and we warn you, this s**t is controversial! Seems Mr. Wang was doing some of the best house cleaning in his blogroll and dropped Mr. Crawford from the link list - "nothing personal" says Mr. Wang, he just hadn't been reading it lately. Well, Mr. Crawford took umbrage, declaring blog-battle with Mr. Wang - put the link back up or else! Not to be cowed, Mr. Wang supposedly wrote a rather scathing letter in response, using a number of racist epithets to mock Mr. Crawford's satirically offensive argot - although signs point to a ghost writer by the name of Byron Crawford. Now the hip-hop subcult of the blogosphere is abuzz, and along with SFist eagerly awaiting further developments.
We warn you, if you can't handle the non-PC language in your standard issue of Vice magazine or a Quentin Tarantino script, you probably shouldn't go anywhere near this - this is not your tame Jay Leno satire. We're mad we didn't get a comment from O-Dub at his free talk on the history of Filipino-American DJ's on the Bay Area scene last night. As they say in the biz, DEVELOPING...
