Ok, that's not really fair. More than 20 million people across the US practice some form of yoga, so it's not just us here in the Bay Area. But we do have an embarrassment of riches in the yoga studio department out here. We feel like almost all types and practices of yoga offer some form of benefit to the practitioner, and we like to practice at different schools depending on what our physical goals are at the time.

We've been doing a lot of resistance training, which we've been complementing with a Bikram practice. Other times, we prefer the less grueling Iyengar and flow classes at Amarita Yoga. Lately, we've been hearing good things about Tony Eason's early morning Iyengar classes at Satori Yoga. The class runs from 7-8:15 AM every Monday, and the first 3 students to arrive get to take the class for free!

If you stop by Satori Yoga next Wednesday the 22nd between 4:30 - 7:00 you won't get to take any yoga, but you'll be there for their first solstice open house event. According to the release we received, "Wine, hors d'oeuvres and lovely organic juices will be served, and we'll be offering 10% off of class cards (excluding the introductory $20 class card). A sampling of Satori's Shiatsu & Reflexology services will be available -- free 10 minute massages for guests! We're also holding a raffle for a brand new Timbuk2 yoga bag!"

Satori, you had us at "organic juice." We'll see y'all there, as we drink wine and get free massages. Whoever still thinks yoga is only for the austerely self-disciplined should meet us there.
