One of SFist's favorite local charities is La Casa de las Madres, a domestic violence shelter with offices in the Mission district that runs great programs for San Francisco's at-risk women, teens, and children. Being the bleeding hearts that we are, we feel that it's incumbent on us to let you know that you've got two great opportunities to help them out in the next couple of days.
First off, there's a cocktail party benefitting La Casa from six to nine tonight at Paragon, at Second and Townsend. Go down there and get hammered for a good cause.
Next, on Sunday, La Casa holds it's largest fundraising event of the year, the third annual Jerseys Off Our Giants raffle, as part of the Giants Community Fund's seventh annual Strike Out Violence Day at the Giants/Padres game at the ballpark. The Giants, the San Francisco Sheriff's Department, Blue Shield of California and the Family Violence Prevention Fund host this event to raise awareness and money for several local anti-violence agencies. La Casa staff members and volunteers will run around the ballpark feverishly for the first five innings of the game selling one dollar raffle tickets for the chance to win player-autographed Giants jerseys in the seventh inning. La Casa raised over $50,000 in the first two Jerseys Off Our Giants raffles and they're hoping for another successful event this year.
Contact La Casa de las Madres if you've got any questions about this Sunday or if you'd like to volunteer to help out.
And don't forget, Go Giants!
