The forests of Northern California are some of the most beautiful in the world. SFist has been simultaneously awed and humbled by trips up north to visit our millenia-old friends the redwoods. So who in their right mind would ever want to cut these things down? SFist thinks it's people with really severe penis envy.

Cory Doctorow of one-time SF published boingboing.net put up a post today that, while it mysteriously disses San Francisco (we're a little peeved, Cory, and think you may well have forgotten your heart here after all), it points to an opportunity to speak up and save our majestic redwoods. If you need convincing, take a short trip to Armstrong Woods State Park, just ninety minutes north in Sonoma County.
