For the next two weeks Kezar Pavilion will play host to the San Francisco ProCity championship tournament. The ProCity league is a summer developmental league for both professional and amateur players from the Bay Area to hone their skills and raise their profile amongst scouts. The league has featured hometown heroes such as Gary Payton, Jason Kidd, Tim Hardaway, Robert Parrish, Steve Nash and one of SFist's favorite basketball personalities Kurt Rambis, among other accomplished NBA and international stars. It's a great chance for local players to show off in front of the friends and family they grew up with, and to play the kind of exciting, entertaining basketball that there just isn't enough of in the big show anymore. Plus the tickets are a whole lot cheaper - try free!

Don't forget that it won't be just the boys hoopin' it up - the girls will also be representing the Bay Area, and you know any one of them could make most guys look like ankle-broken fools. Click for men's and women's schedules. Now that it's the playoffs, look for current and former Warriors Jason Richardson and Gilbert Arenas to make appearances in the hopes of pushing their teams (SF City and South Bay Spartans, respectively) over the top for a championship and a year of local bragging rights on courts across the Bay.

SFist also suggests a great game to play yourself while in the stands - try to spot the coaches, agents and scouts scoping out the competition. Look for chubby bald guys sitting alone and trying to look inconspicuous while taking notes. They'll probably also duck out during half time for a cigarette or chat up one of the player's families.
