SFist is a big fan of Arnold Schwarzenegger movies, at least a few of them. We're not necessarily so pleased with his latest project. In fact, not a single Bay Area county voted to give him a starring role as The Governator. We're a little leary of those slick Hollywood types ever since former Governor Ronald Reagan shut the doors on California's state-run mental health facilities, leaving the patients to fend for themselves in our communities.
What SFist finds funny is that even Austrians are dissatisfied with their favorite son's performance. And after his "girlie men" comments raised a ruckus in Sacramento, we just had to laugh. First, he was quoting a skit that lampooned his macho image; second, we're pretty sure California State Representative and House Majority Leader John Burton, D-San Francisco, never pranced around a stage in a thong with his body greased to a high shine. If he has, we sure don't want to know about it.
While we don't exactly pine for the heady days of the Davis administration, we agree with fellow bay bloggers 1115.org that the Governator hasn't exactly made good on his campaign promises, has a new budget that actually spends more than the previous budget, and is largely paid for through borrowing. If raising spending and going deep in to debt are sound, conservative fiscal policy, then SFist is shocked to find out we've been practicing Reagonomics with our own bank account for some time now.
