The football pre-season intrigue continues as various reports claim that potentially departing receiver Brandon Aiyuk did report to 49ers training camp today.
The wide receiver had not reported to the team's OTA's and mandatory minicamp practices, and he requested to be traded on July 16.
AS NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported today, amidst the continued negotiation struggles between Aiyuk the 49ers' front office, he will now report to training camp and adhere to the current contract.
"We fully intend on Brandon being a Niner," said General Manager John Lynch to reporters, and he called Aiyuk an "integral part of the team."
Aiyuk is currently on a one-year contract extension worth $14,124,000, and will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. His goal is to become paid like a top NFL receiver he believes to be.
Minnesota Vikings' Justin Jefferson is the NFL's highest paid wide receiver, currently on a $110 million contract, averaging $35 million per year. Aiyuk had nearly 300 more yards, and more touchdowns than Jefferson on just seven more receptions.
Mike Florio of Pro Football talk reported over the weekend that there were five teams interested in trading for Aiyuk this year, including the New England Patriots, who had offered the Niners a second-round draft pick ahead of the draft.
Aiyuk's status as a 49er remains up in the air, and it was not clear whether he would be participating in practices at training camp.
