An Alameda man allegedly went on some kind of domestic rampage Wednesday night, killing his wife, son, and his wife's parents, and also shot and injured another young son.
The shootings took place at a home on the 400 block of Kitty Hawk Road in Alameda. Alameda Police Chief Nishant Joshi tells KTVU that they were called to the home at 9 pm Wednesday on a report of a mass shooting.
Inside, Joshi says, officers found a "horrific loss of life," as well as "multiple firearms and significant evidence" linking the husband to the four killings.
Police said in an initial statement that they had found "multiple family members suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, including juveniles."
The injured son is reportedly in critical condition, as ABC 7 reports.
The male suspect, the husband, was arrested, and has been identified as 54-year-old Shane Killian, per the Chronicle. The son who was killed was reportedly six years old, and the injured boy was just one year old.
Neighbors on Kitty Hawk Road tell KTVU that the multigenerational family had only moved in a few months ago, and they appeared "friendly and outgoing."
The quiet residential street is on the south shore of the island of Alameda, close to the bayshore.
Alameda police remain on the scene Thursday morning collecting evidence. No motive has been given for the crime.
This story has been updated with the suspect's name.
