One person was killed Friday evening in a shooting in SoMa, and this fatal shooting followed an earlier one that occurred just a few blocks away.
The shooting occurred around 7:15 pm Friday on the 1200 block of Mission Street, between 8th and 9th streets, as the Chronicle reports.
SFPD officers reportedly located and detained a suspect, but no suspect information has been released. We also don't yet know the identity of the victim.

There was an earlier shooting just several blocks away on Norfolk Street, an alley near the Eagle Tavern that runs between 11th and 12th streets, between Folsom and Harrison streets. That incident occurred at 2:34 pm, as KRON4 reports, and the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
It is not clear whether the two shootings were related.
Friday's fatal shooting was San Francisco's 16th homicide of the year to date. At this time last year, there had been 23 homicides in the city.
