The prospect of Donald Trump tweeting again, with all his incoherently capitalized words and not-very-veiled threats against anyone and everyone, is getting closer to becoming a reality.

Former president Donald Trump, who's blazing a campaign trail like no other, scorching earth and threatening violence as he goes, might be looking back to his old virtual stomping ground of Twitter a.k.a. X pretty soon. While Trump has reportedly been contractually obligated to do all of tweeting/truthing on Truth Social the past two years, that joke of a social media platform for Marjorie Taylor Green stans is likely going to the internet graveyard, at least according to a new financial filing.

As CNN reports, the parent company of Truth Social, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), is hemorrhaging money. SEC filings released Monday show that the company has lost $31.6 million since it launched in early 2021. And despite Trump's bluster to the contrary, Truth Social still only has a dismal 861,000 monthly active users — i.e. about 1% of what X/Twitter has, despite that platform's recent woes.

"TMTG has suffered negative cash flows and recurring losses from operations that raise substantial doubt about its ability to continue as a going concern," the filing said, per CNN, adding that management has had "substantial doubt" since June that the company will have "sufficient funds to meet its liabilities as they fall due."

Still TMTG is hoping that a merger will solve its insolvency problems. Onetime Congressman and Twitter punching bag Devin Nunes, who left Congress in late 2021 to become the CEO of TMTG, put out a statement Monday saying, "We believe that today marks a monumental milestone toward completing the Business Combination, and we look forward to working with the SEC to bring this deal to a close as quickly as possible."

Laughably, Nunes added, "Truth Social aims to be more than a social media platform — we aspire to become the centerpiece of a movement, as well as a method for Americans to invest in their freedom."

Yeah, so, how many weeks do you give it before Trump is screaming at Chris Christie and Nikki Haley on Twitter again? Elon Musk made it clear when he took over last year that Trump was welcome back, even though Musk has ostensibly given lip service to the idea that Twitter/X won't condone incitements of violence, of which Trump is fond.

On the campaign trail in New Hampshire on Saturday, Trump was sounding like he was on the campaign trail in 1953. "We will root out the communists, Marxists, fascists and the radical left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country,” he said. "The real threat is not from the radical right. The real threat is from the radical left, and it’s growing every day.”
