It's a rare story when somebody actually catches a car burglar in the act, but that's what happened Saturday night near Civic Center.
A woman was returning to her car at Hyde and Fulton Streets after a show around midnight Saturday (possibly Hamilton?) when she saw a suspect breaking into her car. As KTVU reports, the woman called police and they arrested the man on the spot.
The suspect who was arrested has been identified as 40-year-old Steven Mills, and on his person were burglary tools as well as items from the victim’s car.
As KPIX reports, Mills was a repeat offender, and he had been arrested and booked on December 8 for grand theft and contempt.
