- A 56-year-old, machete-wielding man, apparently intoxicated, was fatally shot by police in San Leandro Wednesday. The man had reportedly exposed himself to some children, then discarded the machete, and he was shot when he raised an object in his hand that turned out to be a piece of wood. [Bay City News]
- A brief power outage at Oakland Airport's Terminal 2 this morning left passengers on two Southwest flights unable to get off their planes. The terminal was running on generator power, and power was ultimately restored a half hour later. [ABC 7]
