Bay Area hip-hop fans know and love the low-key Oakland music festival called Hiero Day, which happens every Labor Day weekend. Now the group behind it, Hiero Imperium, is hosting a nighttime edition in San Francisco this weekend, at The Midway.
The Hieroglyphics, the East Bay hip-hop collective that spawned Hiero Day, will be represented at the June 1 event, along with Del the Funky Homosapien, and the headliner is Atlanta-based duo EarthGang.
The event is called Hiero After Dark, in contrast to the day party in September, and you'll find $40 advance tickets still available here.
Also on the bill is Doja Cat, Andre Nickatina, and Taylor McFerrin, but there are lots more acts at what appears to be a two-stage fest that spans 9 hours (5 p.m. to 2 a.m.).
As SF Weekly notes, the slightly higher price of admission for Hiero After Dark, compared to Hiero Day, stems from the costs of the venue and booking some high-profile talent.
As some might remember, the now much more famous Anderson .Paak played Hiero Day in 2017.
