Serena Williams gave birth to a baby girl nearly two weeks ago, and we now get our first photo of the newborn via Instagram, and her name: Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. The junior tennis champ in the making takes her father's name, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, and as ESPN shows us, the couple published the video below that chronicles the pregnancy in a montage of Snapchat-like clips, starting with Serena's win at the Australian Open when she was already eight weeks pregnant.
Williams reportedly spent six days in the hospital and mentions "a lot of complications" in the video, but she and Ohanian now have a healthy baby girl and a wedding to plan, as well as a planned move for Serena and the baby to San Francisco, where Ohanian lives. The baby was born at St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida, where Williams has a home and just in time, ahead of Hurricane Irma, which has knocked out power for most of the state.
Williams has said that she plans to begin training right away to prepare to defend her title at the Australian Open in January.
And the baby may go by Olympia, actually, and not Alexis, if we're to go by the Instagram account that the couple has already set up for her.
As the tail end of the video puts it, Baby Ohanian was born September 1, at 6 pounds 14 ounces, "Grand Slam titles: 1".
