The traffic-snarling driver of tow truck was the victim of a Mission District shooting Wednesday, when someone caught in the jam pulled out a gun and started firing.
According to the San Francisco Police Department, the attack went down at 3:47 p.m. Wednesday, on the 1300 block of Alabama Street, which is between 25th and 26th Streets.
Police say that the victim, a 27-year-old man "was towing a vehicle which caused traffic congestion" on the roadway. Suddenly, a man who was apparently enraged by the delays "drove up alongside" the tow-truck driver and shot him, police say.
The driver was rushed to San Francisco General Hospital, for injuries police say are not life-threatening.
The suspect, who police say appeared to be in his late 20s, fled north on Alabama Street. He remains at large as of publication time, and no arrests have been made in the case.
