This week is all about tributes and salutes to musical geniuses of years past. Celebrate the likes of Elvis Presley, Brian McKnight, Fleetwood Mac, Prince, and Whitney Houston — among other worthy activities.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 15

DOLPHIN SUNSET PAINTING CLASS: How could I not include this genius event idea? If you're willing to venture to El Sobrante, attendees can create a beautiful sunset painting (including a dolphin if you so wish) while enjoying the food and drinks of the Somewhere Else Sports Bar and Grill. Led by a talented artist, guests will be using acrylic paint on a 16x20 canvas to create their work of beachside art. WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 16

PURPLE RAIN & THE BODYGUARD: Settle in with a Big Gulp of Gatorade for a double-feature of masterpieces showcasing the unspeakable talents of two fallen stars. Purple Rain is screened at 7 p.m. followed by the timeless Bodyguard at 9:05 p.m. All fans of true art will want to attend. Bring tissues. The Castro Theatre, 429 Castro Street, 7 p.m., $12.

ELVIS TRIBUTE: It's been 40 years since Elvis ALLEGEDLY died. Celebrate the King with a night of his music amidst his local fan base! The San Francisco Elvis All Stars, including Leah Crow's return as Elvis Herselvis, will perform Presley classics, DJs Shindog, Cammy & 2shy-shy will spin Elvis tunes to a video projection of the King's performances, photo ops with King impersonators will be available for Instagram glory, and (get this) peanut butter-and-banana sandwich bites will be served. THURSDAY, AUGUST 17

LEARN ABOUT CONDOR RECOVERY: According to passionate science types, "the recovery of California Condors from near-extinction is one of the inspiring stories of American conservation." Listen as condor expert Richard Neidhardt discusses the past and present recovery efforts of this stunning animal over unspecified refreshments. First Unitarian Universalist Society of San Francisco, 1187 Franklin St, 7 p.m., free for Golden Gate Audubon Society Member, $5 for everyone else.

DRAG QUEEN BINGO: The effervescent Pollo Del Mar hosts "Portola Prom," a prom-themed Bingo night in San Francisco's oft-ignored Portola neighborhood. Pollo will host a lively game of BINGO and perform, and guests who arrive in prom attire get a free BINGO sheet. El Toro Nightclub, 2470 San Bruno Avenue, 7 p.m., $5 cover (plus $$$ to play)

FRIDAY, AUGUST 18

THIS IS OUR CITY TOO: Attend the opening of a new group art exhibition of work made in response to the changes local artists are seeing and experiencing in San Francisco. (Hospitality House’s Community Arts Program is a free studio space and gallery for low-income neighborhood artists.) Refreshments, entertainment and a free poster give-away will all be a part of the opening reception festivities. BRIAN MCKNIGHT: Does Brian McKnight ever cross your mind anytime? YES. Let's let Brian describe this weekend's shows at Yoshi's: "From my solo story telling shows, my trio shows, and my full production shows, I've taken the best of all of them and created an in your face, musical exhibition of my work to date with myself on keys, Isaiah Sharkey on guitar, Chris Loftlin on bass, and Gregory Daniel on drums/percussions." SATURDAY, AUGUST 19

POOLSIDE MARKETPLACE: Head to the Phoenix Hotel and Chambers Eat + Drink for a marketplace packed with vintage apparel. Stock up on clothing, accessories and street wear from craft makers and independent designers while basking poolside sipping a Frose Slushie as BABY J spins records. Chambers will be offering their full bar and menu throughout the afternoon. Phoenix Hotel / Chambers eat + drink, 601 Eddy Street, 12 noon to 6 p.m., $10.

BAY AREA SUMMER BREW FEST: For the 6th year, dozens of local breweries will participate in a beer lover's paradise down at Pier 35. Enjoy unlimited beer samplings, food trucks, a DJ, and a photo booth to chronicle any beer-goggle bad decisions as they unfold. Please note: tickets will not be sold at the door. FLEETWOOD MACRAME: Sing along to Fleetwood Mac's greatest hits with Fleetwood Macramé, San Francisco's premiere Fleetwood Mac tribute band. Presumably, the under-appreciated "Tusk" will be a part of the evening's selections. Enjoy a full bar and lots of fringe spinning in circles. SUNDAY, AUGUST 20

OYSTERFEST: Maybe you've heard: they say oysters are an aphrodisiac. That might mean things could get saucy at the 9th Annual OysterFest at Waterbar's bay-side patio. Enjoy live music, fancy wines, a shucking contest, a silent auction and a boatload of oysters, with proceeds benefiting the San Francisco Chapter of the Surfrider foundation. Last year, over 5,000 oysters were devoured during the festivities. Will 2017's fest break that record? Waterbar, 399 The Embarcadero, 12 noon to 3 p.m., $85.

CORGI MEETUP: It's not quite CorgiCon, but corgis, corgi owners, and corgi fans will be meeting up on Crissy Field this weekend for general corgi appreciation and friend-making. Obviously, this will be the most Instagrammed event of the month. Crissy Field East Beach, 12 noon to 3 p.m., free.
