An evening attack in Hayes Valley left a San Francisco resident dead Thursday night, and sent San Francisco's homicide count for 2017 to 39.

According to San Francisco Police Department spokesperson Sergeant Michael Andraychak, police were called to the intersection of Lily Street and Octavia Boulevard at 7:09 p.m. Thursday on reports of a stabbing.

Andraychak says that when officers arrived, they "found a male victim on the sidewalk suffering from apparent stab wounds." He was declared dead at the scene, Andraychak says.

A spokesperson with the San Francisco Medical Examiner's Office tells SFist that the victim has been identified as 42-year-old Jason Little, a San Francisco resident.

The SFPD did not have any additional details to share in the case as of Friday morning, describing the suspect or suspects as "unknown." No arrests have been made in the case, police said Friday.

SFPD spokesperson Officer Robert Rueca confirms to SFist that Little's death brings San Francsico's homicide count to 39 for 2017, following Sunday's fatal shooting of longtime San Francisco location scout Edward French. As of publication time, no arrests have been made in French's slaying.
