Though it's been widely noted that the Castro needs another coffee shop like a hole in the head, Ritual Coffee still seems to think there's room for them to grow there, and they've announced that they're moving in on the small vacant storefront at the corner of Noe and Market that was most recently occupied by Wildcraft Espresso Bar. Hoodline caught the news via Ritual co-founder Eileen Rinaldi, who said of the space, "It's only about 350 square feet, but there's something magical about a tiny cafe in such a dense neighborhood."
Expect to see the new location open this Thursday morning.
This will be Ritual's fifth location in San Francisco, following on the company's expansion to the Upper Haight a couple of years ago, and including their kiosk at Proxy in Hayes Valley, their kiosk at Flora Grubb in the Bayview, and their Mission flagship location. Ritual also has a stand at Napa's Oxbow Market.
Wildcraft shut its doors in March at 2299 Market Street, after attracting a small following in the 'hood for their sheep's milk coffee drinks. And coffee seems to be showing no signs of over-saturation despite there being well over a dozen coffee options within just a few blocks here.
Santa Cruz-based Verve Coffee just opened at Church and Market in February, and there's been only one notable coffee shop closing recently, Artis, which only lasted a year at 18th and Castro before shuttering last summer.
