A Latvian cyclist named Toms Skujins suffered a pretty serious crash while speeding down a curvy hill in Stage 2 of the AMGEN Tour Of California race yesterday. As CBS 5 reports, along with the chopper footage above, Skujins wiped out on Quimby Road just below Mount Hamilton, and sustained a broken collarbone and a concussion in the process. But, as you can see, he gets up and goes to get back on his bike, even standing, dazed, a little too close to the race course as another group of cyclists go speeding past.

Skujins was racing for Cannondale-Drapac, and he did in fact race a bit further before officials decided to pull him off his bike.

A photo at the end of the video shows him in the hospital looking pretty banged up.

The course of Stage 2 started in Modesto and summited Mount Hamilton before finishing in San Jose, and it was won Monday by Poland’s Rafal Majka in 3 hours 43 minutes and 46 seconds.

Stage 3, which runs south to north from Pismo Beach to Morro Bay, happens today. The race then heads inland to Big Bear Lake and finishes Saturday in Pasadena.
