While low blood sugar is an actual physical condition that can increase aggression as well as hurt one's health and well-being, it's also notorious as a catch-all excuse for bad behavior (the Mercury in retrograde of crabbiness, if you will). It will be up to officials to determine if the former or latter was the situation Monday, when a man shopping for juice harmed a store employee.
Police say that that the attack occurred at 4:44 p.m. Monday, at a store near the intersection of 10th and Mission Streets.
According to the San Francisco Police Department, a 29-year-old man who says he is diabetic entered the store in search of juice to help manage his condition.
The 86-year-old male storeowner instead offered the man "a sweet snack," which sent the suspect into a rage. He pushed the shop owner onto the floor, police say, injuring him.
The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of his condition. According to the SFPD, the suspect remains at large, and no arrests have been make in this case.
