Around 3 p.m. Wednesday, a body was discovered on the inbound Muni tracks at Church Street Station, and it has created a significant commuter snarl as train service was shut down entirely between Van Ness and West Portal Stations, with shuttle busses operating between the two.
Muni spokesman Paul Rose told CBS 5 that an investigation is underway and surveillance footage needs to be pulled to figure out what happened to the person who is deceased.
All commuters going to and from downtown are being advised to take buses or seek alternate routes, i.e. BART or Uber. As of Wednesday evening, because of the service outage, BART was accepting Muni fares and passes for payment.
