Aspiring bank robbers, take note: If you're going to rob a financial institution, the last thing you should do is wear anything of note. Don't dress up like a lady, don't wear whiteface, don't have green hair. The reason? Not only is it more fun for jaded members of the media (hi!) to write about you, but your MO will then stick in readers' minds far better than if you're just a rando in jeans and a hoodie.
That's why I feel bad for* the so-called "headband bandit," because not only does she have a notable accessory to watch for, but her moniker has a lovely assonant feel that makes her nickname a delight to say (try it!) and impossible to forget.
According to the FBI, the female suspect robbed the Wells Fargo at 3431 California Street, which is in the Laurel Village shopping center, at about 1:50 p.m. on Thursday. The feds say that upon entering the bank, the woman approached the teller, handed him a note demanding money, and pointed a gun at him. The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, and the suspect fled on foot.
She's described as a woman in her 30s who stands about 5'7", with a medium build. She was wearing a black hoodie as well as that fateful headband.
Do you recognize her, or have any information on the crime? If so, you're asked to contact the FBI at (415) 553-7400.
*In the general sense! Crime is bad, kids, don't do it.
