Ten people were injured, some seriously enough to require hospitalization, after a driver crashed into the side of a Bay Area classroom Friday morning.
The Solano County Sheriff's Department announced the incident via Twitter at 9:55 this morning, saying that the collision had occurred at Fairfield's Solano Community College campus.
CBS 5 reports that when an SUV slammed into the portable classroom at the school, as many as ten people in the structure were injured and pinned beneath debris as a result of the crash.
"Photos from the scene show a gaping hole in the outside of a portable classroom and SUV parked inside the building," they report. "Desks are strewn about and debris litters the floor."
No details have been provided regarding the driver or the cause of the crash as of 11:30 Friday.
All told, the SCSD says, three victims were treated and released at the scene, and seven more were injured seriously enough to require transport to area hospitals. All the victims of the crash are expected to survive.
