Everyone loves Instagram — the social media platform's algorithmically ordered feed and ripping off of Snapchat makes it the perfect place to view days-old photos of brunch or videos of people's dogs. However, ceaselessly innovating and disrupting, the Facebook-owned company announced today yet another groundbreaking feature to forever change your user experience: Zoom.

"Starting today, you can pinch to zoom on photos and videos in feed, on profiles and on Explore," reads the Instagram post explaining the technological leap. In case you are unsure as to what to do with your newfound powers, the company then helpfully suggests some potential uses. "Dive into an adorable puppy’s smile or into every detail of your friend’s new shirt."

Awesome. Haven't you always wanted to dive into the details of friends' shirts?

Interestingly, unlike with Twitter or Vine, the zoom feature applies to videos as well. That means you'll be able to get up close and personal on everything in your feed — not just the stationary stuff.

For iPhone users, Consumerist reports that this enlightened experience begins today. For those on Android, you'll have to wait a bit longer as the update is still on its way "in the coming weeks" — to tide you over while you wait, we recommend using literally any other photo sharing service as they've all featured zoom on pictures for some time now.
