Oh boy. A story is emerging out of Pennsylvania where one of the Oakland Raiders, linebacker Ray-Ray Armstrong, is under investigation for taunting a police dog shortly before Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field. To be clear, an officer in the K-9 unit alleges that Armstrong was lifting up his shirt, "barking, pounding his chest and challenging the K-9’s handler to sic the animal on him," as the Chronicle reports.
Taunting a police dog is a third-degree felony in Pennsylvania, and authorities are currently considering charges against Armstrong, whose actions were apparently caught on surveillance video.
The incident occurred in a tunnel under the stadium where the dog was helping conduct a routine sweep for explosives.
As WTAE in Pittsburgh reports, the dog's name is Banditt. Police Chief Deputy Kevin Kraus said, "The player was leaving the locker room, en route to the field, when he engaged in conduct that was very intimidating and threatening" to the dog.
When asked for comment on Tuesday at the Raiders' training facility in Alameda, Armstrong declined.
