The San Francisco Police Department is seeking the public's help to apprehend a backpacked thief who violently attacked a San Francisco convenience store clerk before robbing the store's register.
According to SFPD spokesperson Officer Carlos Manfredi, the robbery went down at a convenience store on the 2000 block of Ocean Avenue, just a few blocks from City College.
Based on the video, it appears that the store in question is the 7-11 located exactly at 2000 Ocean Avenue. (As it's against SFPD policy to name businesses in crime reports, Manfredi could not confirm that detail.)
The suspect entered the establishment at 5:44 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, dressed all in black and "completely masked up," as Manfredi put it. When the suspect walked behind the counter, the clerk followed, and the suspect proceeded to beat the clerk and wrestle him to the ground, before forcing the clerk to open the register and hand over the money.
Manfredi says that the suspect remains unknown as of Tuesday. Anyone who might recognize the be-masked robber is asked to contact SFPD's anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or text-a-tip to TIP411 with "SFPD" at the beginning of the message.
