You may have noticed that Facebook crashed today right around noon Pacific Time/3 p.m. Eastern, only to hobble back to life about an hour later. There was, naturally, much snark about this on Twitter in the interim, but hopefully you used the time to do something productive in the actual, physical world. And as many are noting, including CBS 5, this was the second time the social media platform has crashed in four days, after a similar brief crash on Thursday.
A Facebook spokesperson told Newsweek, "We’re currently restoring Facebook services that people had trouble accessing earlier today due to a configuration issue. We’re working to bring things back to normal for everyone. We apologize to those who have been inconvenienced."
Whatever happened to...
The hashtag #facebookdown remains trending, with 257,000 tweets so far.
