A new documentary highlighted by KQED Arts (as part of their Truly CA series) from filmmaker Cecil B. Feeder focuses on one local character whose reputation precedes her. That's Virginia Ramos, or as she's known to most of us, The Tamale Lady.
Feeding a population that is, by and large, intoxicated, Ramos is a hero in many circles and clearly among lots of artists and musicians. More than 50 of them sent in brief, 30-second tributes to her and her wares in a variety of musical styles. You can feel free to skip around the video, though it plays well if you watch it all the way through, too.
