Yes, it's an athletic feat involving one hoping-to-be-viral product promoted by another company's marketing-focused Twitter account — but that doesn't mean that this video of the Golden State Warriors' Steph Curry isn't a little bit impressive.
In the video, which you can watch below, Curry sinks a three point shot while rolling along on a PhunkeeDuck, a device that refers to itself as "the future of personal transportation" but might want to get a better name if it wants to be taken seriously.
The video demonstrating Curry's three point/duck prowess was tweeted by Under Armor's "Hoops" account. Under Armor has sponsored Curry since 2013, in a deal that includes the best-selling Curry One basketball shoe.
The PhunkeeDuck, which Under Armor says Curry is riding as he sinks the three-pointer, is one of those wacky little scooter boards that are being relentlessly marketed in the US — as Wired reports, celebs like Kendall Jenner, Wiz Khalifa, and Jamie Foxx are being encouraged to promote the devices (though, in Foxx's case, he got the brand name wrong).
Add to that celeb list Curry, and you have a marketing maelstrom of impressive proportions, one I guess I'm contributing to right now. But as someone who's been trying to make a three-pointer while standing still for the last 30-something years and failing every time, I can't help but be impressed by the ease with which Curry makes the shot.
Nothing is out of @StephenCurry30's range...
even on a @phunkeeduck. #SCTop10
