Expecting nudity, foul language, and at the very least a lot of jockstraps and bare asses, the general manager of local Fox affiliate KTVU has pulled the plug on its live coverage of this year's LGBT Pride parade on Sunday. Rich Lieberman just blogged about this development, saying that a source told him that GM Greg Kelly "wanted no part of the parade," at least insofar as they were planning to have a live stream of it on the web.
This would seem to be an odd choice especially given the momentous occasion that this Pride celebration has become, though it is often true that the parade has some scantily clad participants in it. Also, there is often a nudist contingent that brings up the rear. So to speak.
Kelly has not confirmed the decision on the record, and it's unclear whether anyone would have even noticed the loss of the live stream were it not for this tip. KTVU, like every other broadcast station in the area, will certainly run some sort of coverage of the parade on their Sunday broadcasts.
We'll await further comment from Kelly, if any is forthcoming.
